Belly Dance
Bellydancing UW was founded in the Spring of 2000 by Kerridwen Mangala and Leena in order to practice the choreographies and technique of their instructor, Mona N’wal. They were soon joined by Radhika, Amy, Yayuk, Courtney, Sabrina, and many other members, who helped create the organization as it stands today.
Bellydancing UW provides instruction for beginning, intermediate, and advanced dancers. Each semester, our organization welcomes 50-70 regular attendees in the beginners’ class, where an experienced club member covers basic technique, which is synthesized into a choreography. Intermediate classes build on this foundation with a greater focus on complete dance pieces, many of which are performed by the club at events on campus and around Madison, including Helen C. House Party, Homecoming, and All Campus Party.
Dance Fabulous is for people who are looking for a fun, no pressure, dance experience. Dance is a great way to trick yourself into exercise, burn off stress and meet other fun folks. Our mission is to provide you with an opportunity to do what you love – dance. No judgments – no worries.
Euphoria Movement Arts is your source for belly dance instruction on Madison’s east side. We foster an inviting, nurturing and creative environment for dancers of all ages, shapes, sizes, and ability levels where everyone can grow, learn, inspire and be inspired.
The Madison Bellydance Alliance is a loose confederation of fans and practitioners of Middle Eastern Dance in the Madison, Wisconsin area. Whether you are a professional dancer, an enthusiastic student, a musician, or simply someone who enjoys watching bellydance—from raqs sharqi to Tribal styles, from folkloric to gothic—you are welcome to join us. Our community shows offer performance opportunities to dancers of all levels in a relaxed atmosphere.
