Same Planet Different World Dance Theatre is a contemporary-based repertory company that presents the work of its Artistic Director and other choreographers, both established and emerging. The Company strives to present choreography that can support a humanistic voice while remaining in the physical world where dance is the primary ingredient; using the full moving body for expression. The Company maintains an ever-evolving body of work that is driven by theatricality, athleticism, tenacity and accessibility for its audience.
Same Planet Different World Dance Theatre (SPDW), led by artistic director Joanna Rosenthal, is a Chicago-based contemporary dance ensemble that has built a strong reputation for work that is evocative, entertaining and engaging. SPDW has received critical acclaim for its varied repertory and powerful performers. SPDW presents the choreography of artists from across the country, both seasoned veterans as well as up-and-coming innovators, with styles that range from classical to post-modern dance. The diverse spectrum of work can range from humorous satire to high-octane virtuosity, but never ceases to delight audiences with performances that are dynamic and inspiring. Contributing artists include Peter Carpenter, Faye Driscoll, Jan Erkert, Carl Flink, Ashleigh Leite, Molly Shanahan, Jeff Hancock, Shirley Mordine, Sam Watson, Shapiro and Smith Dance and to name a few.
Located in Chicago’s historic southwest side neighborhood of Beverly, Dance Gallery features a state-of-the-art facility complete with two dance studios with full view mirrors and parental viewing window and offers a variety of dance classes ranging from ballet to ballroom dance. More than 12 professional instructors devoted to teaching new skills, as well as fostering an appreciation of the art of movement and dance, Dance Gallery provides advanced expertise and instruction for everyone from 2-year olds to adults.
When Marylee Sinopoli first began to make plans for her studio, her unique vision for Dance Gallery was to create a space specially designed for professional dance instruction. Sinopoli fills the studio space with artistic inspiration helping students awaken their creative spirit and develop their own talents and confidence both in and out of the studio.
Joel Hall Dancers & Center offers one of the most extensive dance & movement curricula in the Midwest. We’re open 7 days a week with over 150 adult & children’s classes — serving students of all ages, interests and experience levels.

For 25 years, Studio One Dance Theatre (SODT) has leaped across the bounds of formal dance education in Chicago, providing technical dance training in an environment that nurtures and supports each student. Our prestigious reputation stems from a talented staff of professional dancers who have an ability to give students the tools needed to excel in the arts, and learn that they can achieve anything. It’s a dynamic vision for children’s dance training that strikes the perfect balance between proper instruction and the pure joy of movement.
Ballet 5:8 School of the Arts is the dance education arm of Ballet 5:8, a 501-(c)-3 nonprofit organization and professional performance company dedicated to creating and performing honest, relevant, breathtaking dance.
The school’s mission to make high quality dance training accessible to students of all ages, backgrounds and levels of ability, in an environment that nurtures students and allows them to thrive. Whether students take classes for a few years or many, study for fun, or train to pursue professional careers, it is our goal to be a positive influence in students’ lives that can help prepare them for whatever lies ahead.
The Academy hopes that all students, including those who are gifted, as well as those who have challenges, will feel at home here and find stimulation and inspiration. Emphasizing the joy of movement, the school offers nationally recognized programs for pre- school through professional levels. State certified to teach college level classes, the ADC offers one of the most comprehensive opportunities in the area for young men and women to develop their talents. This progressive system of study provides student showcases, professional performances, scholarship opportunities and career counseling.

The School of DanceWest Ballet offers professional instruction, high standards, and a program that allows students to gradually progress according to the level of their individual skills and technique. Salt Creek Ballet trains dancers. From the tiniest youngster in our “fairy tale ballet” class, through the pre-professional level and beyond to our teen/adult classes, we offer excellent dance instruction to all our students. Believing that a classical ballet foundation is the basis of any of today’s dance styles, Salt Creek Ballet strives to nurture children and adults alike in the beauty, discipline and art of dance.
