Visceral Dance Chicago

Founded in 2013 by Artistic Director Nick Pupillo, Visceral Dance Chicago is a contemporary dance company dedicated to a bold and progressive world of movement. In less than three years, the company has developed a diverse and respected repertoire. With works by distinguished choreographers Sidra Bell, Mónica Cervantes, Marguerite Donlon, Brian Enos, Robyn Mineko Williams, Banning Bouldin, Harrison McEldowney, Fernando Melo, Ohad Naharin, and Pupillo, Visceral Dance Chicago continues to challenge audiences’ expectations. In January of 2015, Visceral Dance Chicago was named one of Dance Magazine’s 25 to Watch, recognizing the company’s accomplishments and potential in the national community. “Visceral Dance Chicago breathes life into the Chicago arts community with their ability to intertwine complex human emotions with the raw beauty of dance and physical movement.” (Chicago Stage Standard)

Li Chiao-Ping Dance

Li Chiao-Ping Dance creates and presents concerts of contemporary postmodern dance, featuring highly physical, elegant and inventive works. LCPD was founded in 1990 and had its first concert in Madison in 1995. It is a resident company of the Overture Center for the Arts and works hard to spread the benefits of dance.

Reflecting and supporting the artistic vision of choreographer Li Chiao-Ping, Li Chiao-Ping Dance produces and presents original performance works, provides mentorship, education and training, offers opportunities for residencies and collaborations, and promotes tolerance and respect.

Chicago Mulitcultural Dance Center

MDC has served Chicago’s communities for over 20 years under the leadership of Founder and Artistic Director Homer Hans Bryant. He founded the Bryant Ballet School and Company in 1990 to create a neoclassical ballet technique which integrates a diversity of dance styles and honors the richness of our varied multicultural heritage. The name of the school was officially changed to Chicago Multi-Cultural Dance Center in 1997. In 2008 he merged ballet and street dance to create Hiplet™, a new technique featuring hip hop dance in pointe shoes.

“Dance” is the most physically and mentally demanding subject within the Performing Arts. Our professional staff, through their knowledge and love for dance, hope to inspire in our students not only dance technique and style but the determination, dedication, and self discipline that is needed to acquire the rewards in the dance education. It is our feeling that when our students have left the studio, whether it is to pursue a career in dance or not, that he or she has developed a stronger character through self confidence, awareness of themselves physically and mentally a greater sense of responsibility, and a better appreciation of the arts.

Kay’s Academy of Dance

Welcome to Kay’s Academy of Dance! Established in 1993 as a family oriented dance studio with a goal to provide a fun, friendly and safe learning environment. We limit our class size to maximize the learning experience. We are proud to say we work with all ages and abilities. Our studio is known for our high quality teachers who are gentle and encouraging, yet provide quality training. We offer weekly classes that fit with a typical school schedule. Our classes begin in September and end in May with an annual recital in June. This recital offers the opportunity for students to showcase to their family and friends what they have learned throughout the year. We also offer summer classes that begin in June and end in August.
