About: Justin Boccitto is a graduate of the Centenary Young Performers’ Workshop where he trained extensively under Broadway & film veteran, Michael Blevins. He continued his training at Broadway’s Circle in the Square Theatre School and went on to appear Off-Broadway with the Metropolitan Opera (in Carmen & Otello), the Willow Cabin Theatre Company, and the New York Theatre Ballet. Mr. Boccitto has also performed at the Papermill Playhouse, Carousel Dinner Theatre, Queens Theatre in the Park, Downtown Cabaret Theatre, The White Plains Performing Arts Center, The Orlando Philharmonic, New Jersey Performing Arts Center, Mac-Haydn Theatre, The Little Orchestra Society, The Producers Club and in 2003 was invited to perform at the United Nations. He also appeared in the Drama League's "Salute to Chita Rivera" featuring Tony, Emmy and Academy-Award winners Ann Reinking, Bebe Neuwirth, Elaine Strich, Alan Cumming and Liza Minnelli. Justin has also worked with such industry professionals as: Nicole Fosse, Chet Walker, Richard Sabellico, Robert Giraldi, Davis Gaines, Aileen Quinn, Robert Johanson, Bettye Morrow, Andrew Lippa, Barry Keating, Edward Berkeley, B.H. Barry, Theodore Mann, Neil Berg and Tony Award-winner George S. Irving. Justin is a founding member of Generation Tap, who performed Off-Broadway along side tap legends Harold Cromer, Brenda Buffalino, and Jason Samuels in "Tap Masters/Tap Treasures" at The Duke on 42nd Street as part of The NYC Tap Festival. Along with performing on the stage Justin also toured with New York/Canadian Jam Band HIWAY FREEKER, where he created tap-improvography to the bands psychedelic sound. He is currently represented by John Shea at Frontier Booking International Agency. Justin currently serves as Executive Producer for The Group Theatre Too in Manhattan. Since The Group’s creation in 2003 Mr. Boccitto has overseen and co-produced MAC Award-Winning cabaret artist, Alisa Schiff in Mama Said…The Songs of Cass Elliot as well as New York tap company, Generation Tap, who has performed at the Duke Theatre in the NYC Tap Festival and was recently featured in Dancer Magazine. Regionally he has mounted productions of You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown, Love Letters and Vanities. Mr. Boccitto also produced the original respect-your-body play, Aftermath seen by over 5,000 school students and recently co-directed two performing arts residencies in Manhattan and Vermont with Michael Blevins and Nicole Fosse. He recently produced a revival production of the Tony-Winning musical Seesaw as well as the new musical Count To Ten. Group Theatre Too maintains a distinguished Honorary Board of Artistic Advisors including Broadway luminaries: Nicole Fosse, Chita Rivera, Theodore Mann, Mercedes Ellington, Maurice Hines, and others. As a director/choreographer Mr. Boccitto has worked for such companies as: Mac-Haydn Theatre, Westchester Broadway Theatre, Seven Angels Theatre, Helen Hayes Theatre Company, Clarkstown Summer Theatre Festival, Westchester Community College, Centenary Stage Company, Dutchess Community College, White Plains Performing Arts Center, The Pomfret School, County College of Morris and the Astoria Performing Arts Center. Justin was hailed by theatre critic, Peter Filichia, for his production of Tenderloin at Cirlce in the Square in 2007 and also acted as choreographer/co-director on the New York premiere of George M. Cohan: In His Own Words now published through Samuel French, Inc. He choreographed a Cohan cabaret entitled The George M. Cohan Revue starring Jon Peterson, who played the role of the "emcee" in the Broadway production of Cabaret. Other choreography credits include: Crazy For You, George M!, Kiss Me Kate, Annie Get Your Gun, Children of Eden, and Once On This Island. Boccitto directed & choreographed Tenderloin at Circle in the Square which was hailed by theatre critic Peter Filichia as "stylish and confident". He also assistant directed and choreographed Sweet Charity at Circle in the Square with Tony-nominated director Theodore Mann and starring Trisha Jeffrey, from Broadway's Little Shop of Horrors and All Shook Up. As a theatre educator Mr. Boccitto serves on the guest faculty at The Juilliard School and Circle in the Square Theatre School. He has also instructed for Broadway Dance Center, New Dance Group, Broadway Artists Alliance, The Vermont Alliance for Arts Education, Dance Cavise, Dutchess Community College, Harambee Dance Company, Center Stage Dance Studio, The Living Museum Company and the Centenary Young Performers Workshop where he also taught stage combat and playwriting. He currently teaches theatre dance through Wingspan Arts and also co-founded The Group Theatre Too's Performers Playground Afterschool Program at PS 75, an Elementary School on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. For the past three years Justin has instructed tap and theatre dance in Queens at Astoria Dance Centre. He also assisted Michael Blevins in the training of Bob Fosse and Gwen Verdon's grandson, Sean Fosse-Greiner. Mr. Boccitto currently conducts workshops and private lessons in Manhattan and througout the country.
