Midwest Dance Center is one of the premier dance studios in the Midwest. We specialize in cultivating talent in our dancers and allowing them to develop a unique passion for dance. We offer a wide variety of studio classes including Hip Hop, Jazz, Contemporary, Lyrical, and Tap. MDC offers both a recreational dance program for ages 3 to adults, and a competitive dance program for ages 8 to 18. Rebecca McCarthy School of Dance (RMSD) is a nationally renowned performing arts school featured on WGN and ABC. We are home to the award-winning McDance Company and provide recreational and professional dance training to children beginning at 20 months through adult. The Rebecca McCarthy School of Dance was established in 2003. We strive to create a learning environment that provides both recreational and professional training. Our goal is to train our dancers in a structured and fun atmosphere. Dancers that study under RMSD are provided with the background they will need to succeed in the performing arts. RMSD students gain the confidence needed to succeed in dance, musical theater, poms, cheerleading and other stage productions. A dancer's top priority is academics. All members must be enrolled at UWM and in good academic standings. Participating in dance team activities should not compromise a member's educational goals. The primary mission of the dance team is to support the athletic teams, assist the cheerleading squad in motivating the crowd, entertain the audience at games and other school functions, as well as promote overall school spirit. The dance team also represents the university in dance competitions and exhibitions.
A secondary mission of the team is to foster a sense of community spirit and cooperation through appropriate appearances throughout the Milwaukee community. Part of the dance team's responsibilities will be to perform and/or make appearances at community events. Once the team accepts a community appearance, the function becomes as important as an athletic event and should be treated as such.
