he Hutchinson Community College Dance Team was formed in the fall of 1961 and the first team was called the “Coettes.” This was around the time of the first college dance team out of Texas; “The Kilgore Rangerettes” was formed.
Alene and John Kline thought it would be entertaining to start a dance team at Hutchinson Community Junior College. So at a basketball halftime, a hat was passed and money was given to start the first team at Hutch.
DuPage Dance Academy was established over 30 years ago in Elmhurst, Illinois. Our qualified and experienced instructors have taught the art of dance in ballet, pointe, jazz, tap and pre-ballet to students ranging from four years old to adults.
Our resident dance company, “Elmhurst Dance Theatre”, provides performing opportunities for intermediate and advanced level students, including our very popular annual “Nutcracker Highlights”, as well as performances with the Elmhurst Symphony and Chicago Dance Slam.
We are quite proud to have many students receive college dance scholarships and move on to professional careers in dance and dance education.
For over 15 years The Academy of Dance Arts has been a training ground for dancers in Chicago and surrounding areas. We offer training in all genres of dance. The Academy is an educational training school for all our students who wish to learn and experience the joy of dance, and all that it gives to the development of the human body.
Founded in 1989, Von Heidecke Chicago Festival Ballet (CFB) has steadily grown since its inception at Scotland's prestigious Edinburgh Festival when Mr. von Heidecke received full funding from a grant from Chicago Artists Abroad. In December 1990, under the sponsorship of Discover Card and the Gaylord Donnelley Foundation, the DuPage Arts Center presented the VHB in its first full-length Nutcracker. Simultaneously, Mr. von Heidecke founded the Von Heidecke School of the VHB in order to offer the highest level of training in classical ballet with a faculty of renowned international artists of the ballet world.
Salt Creek Ballet trains dancers. From the tiniest youngster in our "fairy tale ballet" class, through the pre-professional level and beyond to our teen/adult classes, we offer excellent dance instruction to all our students. Believing that a classical ballet foundation is the basis of any of today’s dance styles, Salt Creek Ballet strives to nurture children and adults alike in the beauty, discipline and art of dance.
Salt Creek Ballet performs. Producing at least two fully staged productions each season, Salt Creek Ballet has gained critical acclaim for its quality of dancers and professionalism, offering audiences a unique opportunity to experience the majestic beauty of classical ballet at a level usually associated with top companies.
The Company’s purpose is to bring a high artistic level of dance to the community. The company accepts an elite few from The School of Dance West Ballet at auditions held in August each year for the upcoming season. Junior Apprentices are considered to be in training and therefore may or may not receive performing roles.
Members of DanceWest Ballet Company perform in The Nutcracker and a spring repertoire performance. Dancers also participate in the school concert presented every June, as well as attending the Regional Dance Association Festival held at one of the Mid States companies, usually in May. Company members participate in performances that are scheduled as opportunities for performances arise.
Dance is an art form that takes time and dedication to develop. The School of DanceWest Ballet offers professional instruction, high standards, and a program that allows students to gradually progress according to the level of their individual skills and technique. It is important that each student develops pride, discipline and self-confidence while having fun and facing challenges. We recognize that students are impressionable, therefore, we strive to make each class positive and constructive.
Our studio offers classes in ballet, jazz, hip hop, contemporary,pre dance and stretch and technique. Classes available for ages 2-18. Our instructors are young and fun, with lots of experience in many different styles! Ballet Minnesota is a nonprofit, Saint Paul-based professional dance company established in 1988 by Andrew and Cheyl Rist. It functions as the performing company of the Classical Ballet Academy, its official school. Ballet Minnesota's founding vision was to create a dance organization serving the Twin Cities and surrounding areas, dedicated to creating an understanding and enjoyment of the dance arts through performance of the classic repertoire and exploration of new works.
