Founded in 1991 Social Life Dance Centers are known for their innovative and highly respected style of social dance instruction in the U.S. and Canada. Established in 1966 and funded by the State Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts, the South Dakota Arts Council (SDAC) is a state agency serving South Dakotans and their communities through the arts. Recognizing the importance of creativity in the lives of all South Dakotans, the Council makes quality arts accessible throughout the state by providing grants, services and information to artists, arts organizations, schools and the public. The Council is the advisory board to the SDAC staff within the Department of Tourism. Council members are appointed by the Governor.
Teaching dancers the fundamentals and technique of dance in a fun, caring environment. We offer a wide variety of classes to meet all dancers interests for students ages 3 – adult at a modern dance studio. For the more serious dancer, we offer a highly accomplished competition program. At Spotlight Dance Academy, we teach more than dance but lessons for life. Your dancer will build character, confidence and poise while taking dance classes combined with excellent dance technique. "Dance" is the most physically and mentally demanding subject within the Performing Arts. Our professional staff, through their knowledge and love for dance, hope to inspire in our students not only dance technique and style but the determination, dedication, and self discipline that is needed to acquire the rewards in the dance education. It is our feeling that when our students have left the studio, whether it is to pursue a career in dance or not, that he or she has developed a stronger character through self confidence, awareness of themselves physically and mentally a greater sense of responsibility, and a better appreciation of the arts.
Storybook Ballet, founded in 2000, is a unique and enchanting children’s ballet school that combines beginning classical ballet instruction with the delight of fairytales and famous ballet stories. Founder and Director, Meredith Mast, is a former professional ballerina with the Houston Ballet. Her dream was to create a school that would foster a love of ballet and teach the proper fundamentals of classical ballet technique … all with a touch of magic!
We are a niche ballet school that focuses solely on children and classical ballet, with teachers that specialize in teaching young children and who have in-depth training in classical ballet. The school’s curriculum is based on almost twenty years of teaching children, and over forty years studying the art form. Classes are offered specifically for ages 3-9, with five levels of ballet classes within those ages.
Storybook Ballet is a non-competitive, non-recital focused school that introduces children to the beauty of ballet and plants the seed for a lifelong love and appreciation of the art form.
