Peoria Ballet is a non-profit company celebrating fifty years of providing the finest in dance performance and dance education to Central Illinois. Well known for its annual production of The Nutcracker, the performance features live orchestral music, professional guest artists dancing the roles of Sugar Plum Fairy and Cavalier, and more than 100 of the Academy’s own dancers. Each season also features a full-length theater production in the spring. The Peoria Ballet also collaborates with other arts and non-profit organizations in an effort to ensure the art of dance continues to be strong and vibrant in the community.
Performing Dance Academy is committed to its students; we focus on the accomplishments and experiences of EACH dancer! We work hard to introduce and instill self-expression, confidence, discipline and passion in each student. Our goal is to allow all dancers to personally experience dance as an art form, build self-esteem, coordination, creativity, grace, musicality, rhythm, technique, learn dance history, build an appreciation for music/dance and above all… have FUN! We also believe in providing proper & elite dance instruction at an affordable rate.
Rebecca McCarthy School of Dance (RMSD) is a nationally renowned performing arts school featured on WGN and ABC. We are home to the award-winning McDance Company and provide recreational and professional dance training to children beginning at 20 months through adult. The Rebecca McCarthy School of Dance was established in 2003. We strive to create a learning environment that provides both recreational and professional training. Our goal is to train our dancers in a structured and fun atmosphere. Dancers that study under RMSD are provided with the background they will need to succeed in the performing arts. RMSD students gain the confidence needed to succeed in dance, musical theater, poms, cheerleading and other stage productions. Salt Creek Ballet trains dancers. From the tiniest youngster in our “fairy tale ballet” class, through the pre-professional level and beyond to our teen/adult classes, we offer excellent dance instruction to all our students. Believing that a classical ballet foundation is the basis of any of today’s dance styles, Salt Creek Ballet strives to nurture children and adults alike in the beauty, discipline and art of dance.
Salt Creek Ballet performs. Same Planet Different World Dance Theatre is a contemporary-based repertory company that presents the work of its Artistic Director and other choreographers, both established and emerging. The Company strives to present choreography that can support a humanistic voice while remaining in the physical world where dance is the primary ingredient; using the full moving body for expression. The Company maintains an ever-evolving body of work that is driven by theatricality, athleticism, tenacity and accessibility for its audience.
Same Planet Different World Dance Theatre (SPDW), led by artistic director Joanna Rosenthal, is a Chicago-based contemporary dance ensemble that has built a strong reputation for work that is evocative, entertaining and engaging. SPDW has received critical acclaim for its varied repertory and powerful performers. SPDW presents the choreography of artists from across the country, both seasoned veterans as well as up-and-coming innovators, with styles that range from classical to post-modern dance. The diverse spectrum of work can range from humorous satire to high-octane virtuosity, but never ceases to delight audiences with performances that are dynamic and inspiring. Contributing artists include Peter Carpenter, Faye Driscoll, Jan Erkert, Carl Flink, Ashleigh Leite, Molly Shanahan, Jeff Hancock, Shirley Mordine, Sam Watson, Shapiro and Smith Dance and to name a few.
Since 1981 the school of Rockford Dance Company has been dedicated to providing the best possible dance education in a professional, friendly, and caring atmosphere.
Classes are offered year round for ages 3 to senior citizens. A variety of dance forms are offered for all levels of experience as well as dance related exercise classes. Our state of the art facility houses 5 studios with two way windows for parent observations. Our studios are located at the Rockford Park District’s Riverfront Museum Park on the 2nd floor.
Teaching dancers the fundamentals and technique of dance in a fun, caring environment. We offer a wide variety of classes to meet all dancers interests for students ages 3 – adult at a modern dance studio. For the more serious dancer, we offer a highly accomplished competition program. At Spotlight Dance Academy, we teach more than dance but lessons for life. Your dancer will build character, confidence and poise while taking dance classes combined with excellent dance technique. Our highly experienced and passionate dance instructors provide educational and exciting classes.
“Dance” is the most physically and mentally demanding subject within the Performing Arts. Our professional staff, through their knowledge and love for dance, hope to inspire in our students not only dance technique and style but the determination, dedication, and self discipline that is needed to acquire the rewards in the dance education. It is our feeling that when our students have left the studio, whether it is to pursue a career in dance or not, that he or she has developed a stronger character through self confidence, awareness of themselves physically and mentally a greater sense of responsibility, and a better appreciation of the arts.
Studio Dance Arts offers excellence in dance education throughout northern Ontario and northern Michigan. A wide variety of quality dance programs are available from the beginner through advanced levels. Boys and girls can start as early as 2yrs! Preschool, Kinder, Recreational, Adult and award winning Competitive dance streams of study offer top notch classes in creative movement, combo, ballet, pointe, jazz, lyrical, tap & hiphop.
With a diverse and highly qualified faculty of teachers, choreographers and guest artists, the school’s emphasis is on strong dance technique and performance skills. SDA also teaches valuable and important life skills, such as: discipline, dedication, perseverance, respect and team work. Dance training is life training.
